Here’s a partial list of speakers confirmed for the 2009 Signage and Graphics Summit in San Diego. The remaining bios will be posted soon.

  • Andrew Graham
    president , Portland Color

    Andy Graham is the owner and president of Portland Color, a grand format printing company based in Portland, Maine. Founded in 1977 as a multi-image slide producer, Portland Color's current business model focuses on large-format fabric printing, as well as photographic imaging, direct-to-substrate printing, and, most recently, HP's latex printing technology.

  • Chris Laszlo (KEYNOTE)
    managing partner, Sustainable Value Partners

    Chris Laszlo is the managing partner of Sustainable Value Partners, a Washington, DC-based consulting firm that works with Fortune 500 companies to create business value through integrating sustainability and corporate social responsibility. A frequent author and speaker who has written two books on sustainability, Laszlo spent 15 years as an executive at Lafarge (a manufacturer of building materials) and Deloitte & Touche. He holds a PhD in economics and management science from the University of Paris and a Masters in public affairs Columbia University.

  • Darren Dolcemascolo
    senior partner and co-founder, EMS Consulting Group

    Darren Dolcemascolo is an internationally recognized lecturer, author, and consultant on lean manufacturing principles. As senior partner and co-founder of EMS Consulting Group, he helps clients improve their productivity and quality through the application of lean strategies. Author of the book Improving the Extended Value Stream: Lean for the Entire Supply Chain, he has worked with clients in a variety of industries including medical, semiconductor, aerospace, and sign manufacturing. He has a BS in industrial engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from San Diego State University.

  • Dr. M. Nisa Khan
    LED technology consultant, LED Lighting Technologies; financial asset manager, IEM Asset Management, LLC,

    Dr. M. Nisa Khan holds a Bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics and a Doctorate degree in electrical engineering. Currently, she works as a photoelectronic LED technologist and a financial asset manager. Previously, she worked in the high-speed communication industry and is known for numerous developments while working with Bell laboratories and Atrium Networks. Nisa is a columnist for Signs of the Times and has lent her expertise to ISA and other industry groups.

  • Fred Johnston
    chairman, FB Johnston Graphics

    Fred Johnston has worked for FB Johnston Graphics, one of the largest specialty graphics firms, since 1963. During this time, Fred's held a number of high-level positions within the company, including sales manager, president, CEO and now, chairman.  

    Additionally, Fred is the CEO of Sunset Consultants, and serves on the Board of Directors for  B2B Media. He's also active with SPTF, DGI and SGIA. He's won the SGIA Key Man award twice, and the SGIA Parmalee award in 2006.

  • Jim Hunt
    director of technical support, Fastsigns International

    Jim Hunt joined FASTSIGNS in September 2001 as an Inkjet Specialist within the Technical Services Department. Now he heads this critical area of the Franchise Services Department and leads a team that provides the technical support and guidance for the FASTSIGNS network in the area of computer graphics and digital output. His diverse background includes nearly 20 years in the Air Force where he performed roles as a law enforcement specialist, journalist and newspaper editor, and public relations instructor. Jim has also worked in a variety of management positions, including managing multiplex theater and a branch technology department for a world renowned print and copy company.

  • Kevin Stotmeister
    president and CEO, Federal Heath Sign LLC

    Kevin came to the former Federal Sign in 1980 after eight years on active duty as an officer with the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps. With Federal Sign, he began as an Engineering Manager in the Chicago-based region. In 1984, he was promoted to District Manager for Indianapolis sales and manufacturing operations. He became General Manager of Federal Sign's Southwest Region, headquartered in Arlington, Texas, in 1986. He was promoted to Vice President in 1988.  In 1990, Kevin accepted the promotion and transfer as Vice President/General Manager of the Western Region, the company's largest region. Kevin was appointed President of Federal Sign in late 1993. With the combining of Federal Sign and Heath Sign companies in April 2003, Kevin was appointed President & CEO of Federal Heath Sign.

  • Kraig Kessel
    director, Bedrock Brand Consultants

    A licensed architect, Kraig has spent over 20 years specializing in the development of branded environments for numerous industries, including fast food, financial services, specialty retail and petroleum. He brings a unique skill set to Bedrock with his abilities spanning the development of branded environment programs from start to finish, including strategic insight, creative direction, project management and implementation management.

    Most recently, Kraig spearheaded a store re-image program for Jiffy Lube, which entails retrofitting approximately 2,100 locations, most of which are franchisee owned and operated.

  • Marci Kinter
    vice president of government affairs & business information, SGIA

    Marci Kinter is the vice president of Government Affairs & Business Information for the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA). She has 20 years of experience representing the screen and digital printing industries before federal and other legislative agencies, and is a comprehensive authority on worldwide trends in health, safety, and environmental regulations affecting these fields. A frequent speaker and contributor to industry journals, Kinter works extensively with manufacturers and printers in implementing their compliance and sustainability initiatives.

  • Marcus Duffel
    group manager - construction, Shell Lubricants Fast Lubes division, Jiffy Lube International

    During his 10 year tenure with Jiffy Lube International, Marcus Duffel has served as the Director of Design and Construction of Jiffy Lube International and currently holds the position of Group Manager - Construction for Shell Lubricants Fast Lubes Division, headquartered in Houston, TX.

    Mr. Duffel is responsible for developing and maintaining building and design standards and serves as the liaison between franchisees and local zoning and building departments. In addition to his North American duties, he was involved in the Jiffy Lube expansion project in Shanghai.

    Currently, Marcus is directing the first major re-image of Jiffy Lube in 30 years. This project involves 2,000+ stores in North America. He has been instrumental in building consensus among passionate constituents and senior management, leading the team to results that has earned praise from stakeholders and strengthened revenues via increased store car counts.

    Marcus has chaired the Building and Fire Code Committee of the Automotive Oil Change Association for 8 years. 

  • Marty McGhie
    CFO, Ferrari Color

    Marty McGhie is the CFO of Ferrari Color, one of the nation’s largest providers of large and grand format printing. He manages Ferrari’s financial resources, oversees its operations including the production and personnel departments, and serves on its strategic management team. Prior to joining Ferrari Color, he held management positions in the sign fabrication industry as well as at the public accounting firms Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young. McGhie is also a columnist for The Big Picture.

  • Mike Majoulet
    brand manager, Wells Fargo

    Michael Majoulet is a Brand Manager in the Wells Fargo Enterprise Marketing Group. A native San Franciscan, Michael ‘grew up' with the Wells Fargo brand and became a Team Member in 1994. Michael leads Wells Fargo's Branded Environments Program which includes design and management responsibilities for signage, merchandising fixtures, sponsorship graphics, and related environment and customer touch point design across the enterprise.  

  • Paul Lilienthal
    president , Pictura Graphics

    Paul Lilienthal is the President and owner of Pictura Graphics.  Paul's leadership of Pictura's brand and market strategies has positioned Pictura Graphics to become one of the leading wide-format digital graphic companies in the U.S.  Pictura Graphics is committed to continuous advancements in the sustainability of the company, through manufacturing process improvements, innovative product and services offerings, commitment to its customers.  Along with the Signage and Graphics Summit, Mr. Lilienthal is active in the Exhibit Design and Planners Association (EDPA) and the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA).       

  • Peter Navarro
    business professor, Merage School of Business

    Peter Navarro received his Ph. D. in economics from Harvard University and is a business professor at the Merage School of Business, University of California-Irvine.  He is a regular CNBC contributor, and author of the bestselling book, The Coming China Wars.  Professor Navarro's other books include the path-breaking management book, The Well-Timed Strategy, and the bestselling investment book If It Rains  in Brazil, Buy Starbucks.

    Professor Navarro's unique and internationally recognized expertise lies in his "big picture" application of a highly sophisticated but easily accessible macroeconomic analysis of the business environment and financial markets for investors and corporate executives.

    He has been featured on 60 Minutes, and his articles have appeared in a wide range of publications, from Business Week, the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal to the Harvard Business Review, the MIT Sloan Management Review, and the Journal of Business. 

  • Rich Gottwald
    education & technical initiatives VP, ISA

    Rich Gottwald is the vice president for technical and educational initiatives for the International Sign Association.  In this capacity, he is responsible for providing oversight and leadership on the regulatory and technical challenges and opportunities facing the on-premise sign industry.  Gottwald also has responsibility for growing ISA's education efforts which include both the annual sign expo education series, and ISA's regional educational programs.

  • Rock LaManna
    CEO, president, LaManna Alliance

    Rock LaManna is a seasoned business development executive, entrepreneur and business strategist with 25+ years of proven experience. LaManna has had substantial hands-on success working with and participating in manufacturing operations, including start-ups, creating and implementing new markets, building key accounts and customer loyalty and developing multiple strategic growth opportunities. His relationships include privately held small-to-medium-sized and Fortune 100 companies. LaManna has also structured strategic alliances and partnerships as the key negotiator and facilitator of long-term agreements with major global institutions.

  • Thom Lasley
    lead design project architect, Target

    Thom has been designing Target stores, both traditional new store and unique projects, for the past five years. He is a graduate of the Southern California Institute of Architecture (sci-ARC) where he graduated with distinction. As a Lead Design Project Architect with Target Corporation, Thom is a team leader in charge of exterior and unique store design execution and approvals for over 40 new store projects a year. Thom prepares and coordinates designs for prototype, new stores, feasibility studies, schematic design and design development for Unique Target Store projects. He works closely with internal Design Project Managers, Real Estate, Store Planners, Engineers, and Construction Managers and with local authorities to garner project design approvals.

    Recently, Thom has focused on the design of the new 2009 Prototype Store formats working with a large, cross-corporate team focusing on brand correct interior and exteriors. The new Target Store formats, the P2009 and S2009 began full role-out in the fall of 2008.

  • Tim Greene
    director of wide-format printing and jetting technology operations, InfoTrends

    Tim Greene is the director of wide-format printing and jetting technology operations for InfoTrends, the leading worldwide market research and strategic consulting firm for the digital printing industry. Greene develops annual market forecasts on wide-format printing technologies and specialty media as well as custom studies for industry-leading OEMs, suppliers and distributors. He is a columnist for Screen Printing magazine and is a frequent author and speaker in the graphic-arts industry.
